St. Albans City School Community Garden
We are fortunate to have an impressive community garden on St. Albans City School property. Roughly 20 community members pay for access to garden beds in a fenced-in space that they maintain and harvest each year. These community members are hardworking, tidy and productive. Year after year their lush garden beds provide examples of how beautiful gardens can function. It helps that our Farm to School Coordinator, Heather Smith, is the community garden manager and insures that only motivated community members use this space.
We like the fact that our community garden and school gardens are located next to our well-used soccer fields and our 1/2 mile gravel walking/biking path. The St. Albans community and everyone at our school get to view the gardens over the course of each year.
