Market Garden Update (2023)
Priorities for the garden space and produce have changed since we no longer have a dedicated farm-to-school coordinator. Click on this link to see how the garden space has been used since 2020.
School Market Garden (2019)
The market garden expansion was created over two years. The spring of 2017 became the first growing season that the garden soil was tillable. Raised beds were prepped and planted before summer vacation began. Many types of produce were planted for late summer and fall harvest. Much of the produce was harvested and sold to the cafeteria for school meals. Some produce has been used for classroom cooking projects and Family Consumer Science lessons.
Students assisted with harvesting and delivery of produce to the cafeteria staff. The food service staff appreciate the zero-carbon footprint of our produce deliveries and create delicious offerings for student and staff meals.
