Worm bin for the Explorers learning community
Bob Engstrom provided an at-cost worm bin to the Explorers learning community in 2014. He visited the community to teach them about red wiggler earth worms and how to care for them. See the video below from his visit.
The Explorers team has managed their worm bin effectively in the years since. The worm bin, or "worm farm" as they call it, is an excellent tool for teaching students about processing our food waste.

Worm (vermicompost) education continues
Third graders from Explorers came to Mrs. Lawyer's kindergarten class to taught students about a special kind of earthworm, red wigglers (2016). Red wigglers are excellent at processing vegetable scraps and leaves. The explorers put some of their snack waste into their worm bin once or twice a week.
