HOPE (Hands On Practical Education): The Home of Cutting Edge Designs
For the last four years St. Albans City School has been building up an applied learning program for students that benefit from an alternative approach to instruction. Some students appear to absorb math, writing and science learning better when associated with hands-on activities that serve the needs of the greater school community. With this approach in mind, Mr. Deslauriers and Mr. Hoben work with several dozen students each year to work with wood, make signage for the school, press apple cider, make maple sugar, and do dozens of other applied projects. Boys and girls are referred to the two teachers who do a beautiful job of making learning meaningful and fun. On this page you will find a few examples of their amazing work.
