Field Trips
Field trips to local farms connect students to sources of their food in a powerful way. It is expensive to bus many students to these learning opportunities but we do so as often as possible. Kindergarteners and children in the 1-3rd grade groups are the primary candidates for these trips. However, older students visit farms if there is a connection to their stewardship projects. Check out some of the videos made of field trips in the early years of our stewardship program.
Field Trip Videos
In the early days of our farm to school program we tried providing virtual field trips to farms that supply us with locally grown fruits, milk and meat. These were successful. However, we realized that our media coverage resources are limited and best focused on our school campus. Students still go on field trips to farms and then the staff share their pictures with the school community.
