ALBANS — Thursday December 14 from 4 – 6 p.m., St. Albans City School will transform into a Made at St. Albans City School Mall. This is a school-wide culminating event that highlights our learning about the economy.
While there were many components to this thematic unit, the largest is the production process that each team has embraced over the past few months. Precision and quality control are two concepts that students have focused on throughout their production. Safety, environmental impacts and the power that technology brings to manufacturing a consistent high quality product are also key learning from this unit.
It is exciting to see many tools and resources being fully utilized in the past few weeks as production was in full force, often requiring sign-up sheets to schedule. As we get to the final few days, students are focused on their production numbers and finishing touches.
When the mall opens on December 14, teams will have their store open where they are selling their product, and they will also display their process and the learning from this thematic unit. In many cases our teams have linked their business with their stewardship projects. We look forward to welcoming families and the community to see our work. -- Joan Cavallo is the principal of St. Albans City School.
